Hot-Melt Extrusion Fundamentals: Processing of Amorphous Solid Dispersions for Poorly Soluble DrugsOctober 06, 2015 8:00 AM PT (5:00 PM CET) Market Segment: Pharmaceutical In this webinar, scientists from Bend Research will provide insight into HME fundamentals, including solid dispersion formulation selection. Strategies and case studies for solid dispersion formulation selection and definition of a HME process operating space will be reviewed. An estimated 60 percent of compounds in early development have poor solubility due to low solubility and dissolution rates (DCS IIa and IIb). Hot-melt extrusion (HME) of amorphous solid dispersions is one approach Bend Research, a division of Capsugel Dosage Form Solutions, uses to address APIs with limited bioavailability. By using small scale screening techniques and an integrated process and formulation approach, Bend Research is able to rapidly develop a progressable drug intermediate and dosage form for preclinical and clinical manufacture. These approaches balance the target absorption profile, manufacturability, physical and chemical stability, and API availability. Presented By:

Fundamentals of Spray-Dried Dispersion TechnologySeptember 17, 2015 3:00 PM CET (9:00 AM EDT) Market Segment: In this webinar, experts will discuss:
Current estimates indicate that more than 70% of new chemical entities require solubilization technology to achieve efficacious plasma exposure. Amorphous solid dispersion technology is a leading approach to improve solubility and dissolution rate of these insoluble compounds by providing a supersaturated concentration of drug in the gastrointestinal environment, which often translates to rapid absorption and improved bioavailability. Amorphous solid dispersions are typically prepared by using hot-melt extrusion or spray drying processes. This webinar will focus on the fundamentals of formulating and processing of spray-dried dispersions, including stability assessment, in-vitro performance, and downstream manufacturability. Sports Nutrition to Active Nutrition: What is fueling the transformation?July 29, 2015 2 PM ET (8 PM CET) Market Segment: Dietary Supplement Sports nutrition is no longer just for the traditional athlete or gym enthusiast. A transformation is underway as manufacturers contemplate moving sports nutrition into the mass market to meet consumer’s need for products that increase stamina, sustain energy, enhance recovery and are science-backed with clean ingredients. These products need to fit into their healthy lifestyle and should not be complicated or have special regimens. Companies need to understand how to successfully make this transition. By understanding emerging segments and leveraging the right ingredients they may make a better transition to the mass market shelves. The ways these ingredients need to be delivered will impact that success. Speakers:
